1. Open Windows “File Explorer”.

2. Type in the server name in the address bar using format "\\\vm-xxx\ 

   _Note:_ The quickbooks data folder must have previously been shared and you must know the login/password.

3. Drag the quickbooks data folder to the “Quick Access” area of File Explorer to pin it.

   _Note:_ The reason to pin it is so that you can see it in Quickbooks to access it.  You can also map the share, but mapping it leaves it for the user to easily access and potentially delete files or potentially add non Quickbooks files.

4. Open Quickbooks, and click “Open or restore an existing company”.  On the next screen, ensure it's on “Open a company file” and click “Next”.

5. When the “Open a Company” dialogue opens, click on “Home” and scroll down until you find the pinned folder from earlier.  Double click to enter it. Click on the .qbw file. 

   _Note:_ Ensure to click the “Open file in multi-user mode”. If you forget and switch to multi in Quickbooks, it will randomly revert to single user mode so you need to do it from the start.

6. Click “Open”. Enter your login/password.  Ensure it says “(multi-user)” at the top.

7. Click “File”, the “Close Company/Logoff”.

8. Go back to File Explorer and right click the pinned folder and choose “Unpin from Quick access”.
